You Belong to Something Larger
Something has been shifting for a while. Lately it seems more obvious. I can feel it in my body, in the way my heart is orienting — and I'm guessing you might be feeling a version of this too. There is a call that's being sounded into our hearts from the Earth, from the other planets and stars, from our higher selves, from the Source of all blessings. At a time when the world looks like it’s falling apart, we are being summoned toward love as a way of being.
Last night I pulled these three cards: Gathering Together, The Family, and The Corners of the Mouth (which is about nourishment, wellbeing and providing for others). Over and over this oracle says: Tend yourself. Be in community. You belong to something larger.
I've spent many years keeping close to myself, my husband, and a potent handful of best friends. My relationships have history and longevity. They are deep and deeply connected, with joy and play, love and wisdom flowing between us. These days, the call to engage in the greater community is crystal clear.
In a recent Morning Circle I held, I saw joy shining in people's eyes — we all did. It was gratitude for the experience of real connection. The gift of being invited to explore through a loving lens and go a little deeper. The gift of seeing and being seen, in a gentle, simple space of equanimity. Our hearts opened more as we shared what was in them.
The web of people devoted to love has been alive and growing for a long time. I am one of these people, and have been part of the web in my way — but it feels like I'm only now truly weaving myself in. What moves me is that I arrive already feeling at home. Already belonging. That's not everyone's experience of stepping into community, and it's one of the things I hold most tenderly in my work with clients: belonging is something we can come to know from the inside, first.
Blended into all of this is a knowing I keep returning to: our love is most alive when it flows from fullness. Fullness has a texture, a presence. It lives in the space between thoughts, in the care we offer our own hearts, in the way we tend and move and listen to these bodies we're inhabiting. When we create this fullness — when we come home to ourselves in this way — we're more easily able to hear the voice of our soul.
And from the soul's perspective, we are only ever perfect exactly as we are, in every moment.
Knowing this, we begin to engage the world from a place of compassion, and find others who are doing the same. There is a circularity, a giving and receiving that inspires our joy and our becoming.
Each heart tended makes the collective more whole. This is the medicine of community.
The ground beneath us is changing, and we're building it together, right now.
"Love is the bridge between you and everything." - Rumi
May you feel the beauty of what is forming.
May you know yourself as belonging to it.
May your heart be soft and open.
Love,
Aowyn
